Composition Universe
The total population against which a subset is being compared. For example, the composition universe for traders in a given age range is all ages.

Count
Positive integer values. For example, the number of traders holding a security.

Estimated Count
Positive integer values, which are the result of retrospective models, i.e. estimates of past events. For example, the attendance of a movie last weekend.

Index of Concentration
An indicator of the extent to which a characteristic or behavior is concentrated within a given universe, compared to an average of 100.

Penetration Universe
The total population against which a subset is being compared. For example, the Penetration Universe for traders in a given age range is all traders within that age range.

Percent Composition
The percentage of a total that belongs to a subset of that total (often described as a percent down). For example, the percent composition for traders aged 25-34 is calculated by dividing a count of traders aged 25-34 by the count of traders of all ages and multiplying the result by 100.

Percent Penetration
The percentage of a universe that belongs to a subset of that universe (often described as a percent across). For example, the percent penetration for traders aged 25-34 holding a particular security is calculated by dividing a count of traders aged 25-34 holding that security by the total count of traders aged 25-34 and multiplying the result by 100.

Raw Count
A positive integer value, which has been extracted directly from the HSX.com game database or a third-party source.

Segment
A category (e.g., male, female) or which represents a range (e.g., 25-34) within an enumerated variable.

Trader Insight
Is a single source service offering research on motion pictures. Trader Insight applications include Market Insight, offering free market data from the Hollywood Stock Exchange; Audience Insight, providing tracking and audience demographic reports and Box Office Insight, providing weekly projections of box office receipts for films heading into release.

Variable
An attribute (e.g., income segment) of traders, media properties (e.g., movie studio, release date) or securities (e.g., price.)

Weighted Count
A positive integer value, which is the result of a raw count that has been adjusted through multiplication by weights. Weights are used by HSX Research to adjust a sample of responses from a subset of a population so that the weighted samples are representative of the total population.
